How is HELLO TOMATO nail polish different?

While it isn't yet possible to create a completely all natural nail polish, we've left out common toxins, allergens, and irritants so you can paint with peace of mind. Our formula is water based, and is gentle enough for sensitive skin and nose.

We are in no way claiming to be an authority in non toxic ingredients. As a small brand, we carefully research the ingredients we use. However, we're not chemists or cosmetic toxicologists, so we encourage you as consumers to understand cosmetic labels, ask questions, and make confident product choices that feel best for you.

Who can use HELLO TOMATO?

People with sensitivities to chemicals and has adverse reactions to even non-toxic polishes which might still include irritants such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate and fragrance. Anyone who is looking for an alternative nail polish that aligns with their philosophy of clean living. If you have hypersensitive skin, please do a patch test on a small area of your skin first before application, and don't use the ERASER GEL as it contains concentrated alcohol.

What if I don't have any sensitivities to regular polishes?

Our nail polish was not created for people who are used to long wearing gel and acrylic polishes. Because it's a water based formulation, it can't be as durable as regular polishes. So if you are used to those, it will take a whole new mindset to justify that switch. HELLO TOMATO will last half the time of regular polishes before it starts to chip, and needs our Eraser Gel to remove instead of Acetone.

What are some adverse nail product reactions?

Skin irritation such as redness, swelling of fingertips, rash, blisters, contact dermatitis, headache, dizziness, nail lifting from nail bed, nail fungus.

What ingredients are used in HELLO TOMATO nail polish?

Nail polish: polyurethane-1, propylene glycol, stearalkonium bentonite, hyaluronic acid & may contain pigment CI 19140, CI 15850, CI 15880, CI 77891, CI 77510, CI 77491, 77499, CI 77019, CI 77742.

Eraser Gel: ethanol, oxidized cellulose, ammonium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, water.

What ingredients were excluded in HELLO TOMATO nail polish?

Most modern nail polish formulation does not contain common toxic chemicals anymore, however we also removed even ingredients such as Ethyl and Butyl Acetates, which is the main culprit for nail polish smell. None of these are used: Formaldehyde, Toluene, Camphor, Parabens, Dibutyl Phthalate, Xylene, Triphenyl Phosphate (TPHP), Colophonium, Ethyl Tosylamide, Ethyl and Butyl Acetates, Mercury, Lead, Acetone, Fragrance and Animal Derivatives. Why is your packaging rather basic?

Even though the unboxing experience can be wonderful, it is momentary and at the core of it; an unnecessary use of excessive materials. The thought and likelihood that it'll end up discarded is not ideal. So our packaging is minimized to prioritize protection during transit.

How long does HELLO TOMATO nail polish lasts after application?

Water based polish won’t have the same durability as regular chemical filled polishes. However with the correct application and care, it can last 3-5 days before it starts chipping.

Any tips to make my manicure last longer?

1. The smoother the nail surface, the longer your manicure will last. So preparation is essential to a polished look.

2. Apply evenings before bedtime, to allow a good time to dry naturally while sleeping.

3. Touch up with our Glossy Coat to restore shine after a few days.

4. Avoid hand sanitizers as alcohol dissolves our polish. We recommend antiseptic benzalkonium chloride wipes like this one.

Why is the consistency thicker than a regular nail polish?

Because the formula is water based, it needs a slightly thicker consistency to have the same color brilliance and shine as regular polish. If you'd like a thinner consistency, a few drops of distilled water may be added, then shake the bottle before use.

How should I apply?

  • Preparing your canvas - shape, file and buff.

  • Wipe with alcohol pads.

  • Shake bottle before use.

  • Apply a thin coat.

  • Wait 5 mins.

  • Repeat once or twice.

  • Apply GLOSSY COAT.

  • Let dry 15 mins.

  • Wait 1 hr before any contact with water.

How should I remove?

  • Gentlest method is to soak in warm water for 15 mins and patiently peel away.

  • Removes with isopropyl alcohol, hand sanitizer or Eraser Gel.

  • Apply a thick layer of Eraser Gel.

  • Wait for 5 secs.

  • Wipe off firmly with a towel.

  • Repeat once or twice.

  • Wipe residue with alcohol.

  • Apply your new color.


What hand sanitizer should I use to remove the polish?

We recommend a fragrance free Ethyl Alcohol based hand sanitizer such as this one.

Do you ship international?

Not directly at this time. We partnered with The Green Jungle Beauty Shop that ships worldwide from Canada.

What are your processing and shipping time?

Please allow 1-2 business days to process. Standard shipping typically takes 3-7 business days for $5.95, and Express shipping takes 2-3 days for $19.95. We ship to the 50 states.

What is your return policy?

We offer a 100% Happiness Guarantee. If for any reason your order is not up to your expectation or arrives damaged, please contact us within 30 days at info@hellotomato.co so we can help you resolve any issues including a replacement or a refund. We offer a full refund, minus shipping and tax fees. 

If your order had qualified for free shipping, the amount of shipping will still be deducted from the refund at the fee of $5.95.

Refunds are issued to the original form of payment once approved. Please allow up to 10 business days from the date we process your return for the refund to appear.

Returns are handled on a case-by-case basis. We reserve the right to decline returns that do not meet our policy, or if we determine the policy is being misused.
